People mainly come for the challenging single-track mountain biking, though it can be a good inland alternative for hiking when Acadia gets busy. Be prepared for plenty of rocks and roots. The Overlook Trail has fine views of Bald Mountain and Philips Lake. In the Lucerne area of Dedham off rte 1A.

The less visited, mainland part of Acadia. Beautiful views of ocean and MDI. Great surf watching after big storms. Just be careful at the water’s edge and be on the lookout out for rogue waves. If you go at low tide, try the hike out to Little Moose Island.
