The first long-distance footpath in the United Kingdom. The Pennine Way, which opened in 1965, officially starts in Edale village but can be reached via the High Peak trail right next to my house!
Known as the ‘Daddy’ of all England’s Great Walking Trails, the full walk takes you along England’s spine through National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty before ending in Kirk Yetholm, Scotland some 268 miles from its starting point. It takes just over two weeks to walk on average.
