The Historic Kinsol Trestle is open to the public for cyclists, hikers and equestrians to experience the full Cowichan Valley Trail in the Cowichan Region. The Kinsol Trestle is one of eight trestles along the Cowichan Valley Trail route and by far the largest and most spectacular. The Kinsol Trestle is one of the tallest free-standing and most spectacular timber rail trestle structures in the world. At 187 metres in length and standing 44 metres above the salmon bearing Koksilah River, the Kinsol is an incredible structure.

Sandy Pool Regional Park is well known throughout the Cowichan Valley for its sandy beach and great swimming holes in the Cowichan River. This park has over a kilometre of walking trails that lead through the forests with interpretive signage. The Park is highly used in the summer months as a destination for tubing down the river and is a popular swimming spot on the Cowichan River. The river is a prominent feature of the Valley and is known as one of British Columbia's best trout fishing areas with one of three drift boat launch sites available. The other two launch sites are located in the Cowichan River Provincial Park.

Stoney Hill Regional Park is located in the Municipality of North Cowichan near Sansum Narrows across from Saltspring Island. The park has spectacular views of Saltspring Island and the surrounding area with a scenic, approximately 3.2 km looped trail starting and ending at the parking lot. Stoney Hill Road leads off Genoa Bay Road to the parking lot/trailhead which holds up to 25 vehicles.
