Montana Tech is great. Also, there are biking adn hiking trails behind the campus. Travel to the end of Park street through the campus and enter the trail system. Small beginners pump track also there.

Little known hack to the bike park is that you can ride the lift without a bike, check out the views and hike areas at the top of the ski area without working much to get there!

Layer clothing, Butte's weather is variable.
We love Butte and acknowledge it may take some getting used to for people familiar with bigger cities or cultures that get dressed up lot. Butte is a casual place. People value family connections, shared hardships and often a love of the ourdoors. People are in general shocked by people who throw money around and will think you are touched in the head if you do. On the same note, few would turn you down if you buy a round. Hope you enjoy it.
