Favourite places to eat

Great fish specials and a warm welcome from the team. There's always a guest ale and there's an interesting range of gins. Really important to book in advance in the summer months as this place is something of a destination in Pembrokeshire.

Another extremely popular place to eat. It's a boat shack on Freshwater West. Grab a lobster or crab roll and take it down to the beach. Usually there's a special on too as well as burgers, ice cream, cakes. In very windy weather the cafe may not operate. Check on their Facebook page.

Walks and beaches

Justifiably named one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. There is no car access so you have to walk either over the clifftop from Stackpole Quay or through the woods and dunes via Bosherston Ponds. The sea is often calmer here than at Broadhaven or either of the Freshwaters.

Our favourite beach. A wide sweeping beach you can access from the National Trust car park or from walking through the woods and dunes. There are toilet facilities at the car park and a very good food van on weekends and school holidays.

A quiet place to walk just a few minutes from the cottage. Walk down to the 2nd Caroline Grove entrance, walk a little way almost to the wooden causeway and turn right. Through the trees you'll see a stile that will take you across the road to the National Trust car park for Castle Dock woods. You can walk a circuitous route from there. Always peaceful even on a sunny Bank Holiday when everyone else has gone to the beach.

Days Out

This has consistently been one of our guests' favourites over the last four years. The tidal mill in particular is interesting and the place is very picturesque.

A quiet village at the end of the Castlemartin peninsula. It has a sheltered beach, a beachside cafe with a very good reputation and a Victorian fort, manned by volunteers. Well worth a visit.
