Home to both the Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Sounders, it has also hosted numerous international matches and is in the running for the 2026 World Cup. Sounders tickets are actually reasonably easy to get even though they sell out every match. If they aren't available through the box office, check out one of the many secondary-market retailers. SeatGeek is the official reseller and are guaranteed to be legit. CenturyLink also offers daily tours if you are into more of a behind-the-scenes look.

Don't bother renting a car

Seattle's traffic is every bit as bad as advertised and parking can be an absolute pain. Luckily, Seattle has dramatically improved options for getting around. Here are a few options: 1. Rent a bike: There are several companies that offer traditional and electric bike rentals, often for as little as $1 per 30 minutes. 2. Take transit: Our bus and light rail system is in the middle of a massive expansion and can get you just about anywhere. 3. Sign up for a car share: Car 2 Go and ReachNow allow you the freedom of car travel without having to pay for time you don't use or worry about paying for parking.

Bring a packable rain coat

While it's not quite true that "no Seattleites use umbrellas", it is smart to bring a light raincoat. While the summers are reliably dry, the other nine months of the year are highly likely to get rain. Your best bet is bringing a rain coat that is easily packable, as you're unlikely to need it all day.

Download some mobility apps

Here are a few apps that will help you navigate Seattle: 1. OneBusAway: Real-time transit schedules; 2. Migo: Lists just about every bikeshare, careshare, ride-hailing and transit option to get you where you need to go; 3. Car2Go or ReachNow: The two carshares are all over Seattle, but signing up ahead of time will be helpful; 4. LimeBike: The most accessible of the bikeshares, it offers both traditional and e-assist options.
