Just head right when you step outside, then straight until you get to the hill, aim right to find the steps to go up. You might pass local gastropub The Crown, always a winner with nice atmosphere and great for sundowners on the benches outside

Has previously been On the market at £495,000 and has a host of period features and comprises three floors.The main features comprise a reception room with open hearth fireplace, cosy dining room with hitorical leaded lights and a Jacobean staircase with tall leaded mullion windows.
There is also a vaulted ceiling to roof apex, and numerous oak beams, studding and roof timbers.
This was the smallest of the three gates in the Town Wall and was a postern gate situated at the bottom of All Saints Street. A number of steps had to be descended to access the gate and, from the resemblance to the two-decker pulpits of the period became known as The Pulpit Gate. This gate was possibly rebuilt around 1380 and referred to subsequently also as the 'New Gate'
Any wheeled vehicle or person on horseback needing access to the Stonebeach would have to turn west down East Bourne Street to pass through the Bourne Gate. The name of Pulpit Gate is now preserved by means of being adopted by a house adjacent to the original gate's location,

One of my friends described St Leonards as 'a bohemian war-zone' :) I think he means it's got a great arty vibe and there are lots of cool eateries and coffeeshops, AND... in some areas the paint is peeling and it wouldn't be unusual to witness a 'street argument' ;)
