Low Isles is excellent for snorkelling and exploring the reef, if you are travelling with a group including children, people with a fear of open waters or tendency to become sea sick. Low Isles is close to Port Douglas so you don't have to spend too much time on a boat getting there and land lovers can walk around the island and enjoy the bird life while budding marine biologist observer life on the surrounding coral reef. The Island is surrounded by coral reef where you can discover fish, sea cucumbers, green sea turtles, black-tipped reef sharks and other marine animals. Low Isles is also a great island for birding. You are likely to see osprey, sea eagles, mangrove kingfishers, honeyeaters, white breasted wood swallows and Torris Strait pidgeons. Fun Fact: Low Isles Light - Built in 1878, was the first lighthouse in Far North Queensland.
