Avenas is is a nice small village now part of Deux-Grosnes is a (merger of the former communes of Monsols (the seat), Avenas, Ouroux, Saint-Christophe, Saint-Jacques-des-Arrêts, Saint-Mamert and Trades). http://commune.avenas.free.fr/
It is very close (13 km) from our place and also worth visiting for its restaurants:
- La Terrace du Beaujolais with a beautiful panoramic view.
- Ema restaurant in the vilage. Very good food and a very nice view
-Auberge du fût d'Avenas - Simple food, cosy atmosphere with a fireplace. A quiet terrace for the summer season

A very nice city, 42 km from our house (less than one hour by car) built along the Saône river. Pedestrian steets with nice shops and bar restaurants.

We especially like to have lunch at Restaurant Le Saint-Laurent, one of the famous cook Georges-Blanc gourmet places. Beautifully situated along the Saône and good value for money.

Cluny is about km from our place and a must visit for its
Abbey, a former Benedictine monastery constructed in the Romanesque architectural style, with three churches built in succession from the 4th to the early 12th centuries.

Monsols shops and market
In Monsols you find grocery store (open 7 days with Sunday morning) a pharmacy, a post office, a bakery, a doctor’s office, a bank with an ATM machine and also farmers’ supply store (Gamm Vert).

Visit of the village of "La Clayette" and the market
La Clayette is situated in the southernmost part of Burgundy, north of Beaujolais, 22 km from our place, 25 minutes by car. On the way you may stop at one or the oldest wool spinning mills, now a museum in Varennes sous Dun.http://www.musee-filature.com/site/

A nice place for swimming or rent a pedal boat during summer or simply have a picnic, 22 km from the house on the way to Cluny.
