Lovely little cafe which is so local to the cottage! Our neighbour Sam often gets a takeaway Sunday roast from The Sycamore Tree, so if you don't fancy sitting in, you could have a cosy meal in the cottage instead. Just around the corner from the cottage on the main road. Now open again after closing for Lockdown, here is a link to check the opening times. Book to avoid disappointment as they do get quite busy with walk ins.

We love this little butchers, we bought 200 sausages to be served to our guests at our wedding and they were lovely! Pop in if you fancy some local meat and friendly service. You might even be lucky enough to find something from here in your fridge...unless you're veggie, then you wont...

Cheap and cheerful local Chinese takeaway, we order from here when we are up and are always surprised how cheap the order comes to...but we do live in London. Friendly service, cash only. There is a cash machine at the end of our street which you would walk past though.

This hotel has a lovely restaurant which we regularly visit to meet up with family and friends. Very local to the cottage, only a short 10 minute drive across the border to Scotland, (does that make it a foreign restaurant?), well priced and tasty.

This hotel has a lovely restaurant which we regularly visit to meet up with family and friends. Very local to the cottage, only a short 10 minute drive across the border to Scotland, (does that make it a foreign restaurant?), well priced and tasty.

Very trendy new restaurant in Carlisle, we've been here recently for a birthday party. Very good food and service, very interesting toilet decor too, worth a visit. (The restaurant and the toilet.)
