Where others saw a junk warehouse for 50 years in Bushwick, three men saw their vision of Momo Sushi Shack realized. “‘Momo’ in Japanese means ‘peach’ but also ‘thigh.’ So in Japan we say ‘momo-chan’ is a cute, sexy lady,” says Suzuki, who also owns Bozu and Samurai Mama restaurants. “The construction guys showed up saying ‘Wow, this place is really a shack.’ So we combined ‘momo’ with ‘shack.’” It's also good to note that they have won a Michelin Guide recommendation.

Roberta’s is that indie rock band that makes an insane debut album, blows up, and instead of releasing new records, keeps putting out bonus tracks and remixes of the original album. Roberta’s put Bushwick on the map, literally. What started as reasonably sized warehouse with a little outdoor area has now turned into a compound that occupies an entire city block. Roberta’s now has a garden, an event space, a radio station (that was always there, actually), a tasting menu only restaurant with two Michelin stars (Blanca), a bakery which serves as their hub for all things takeout and delivery,

Faro is much more of a destination than neighborhood stop. The space looks like a cover shoot for an interior design magazine. Every wall, from the painted brick dining room to the back of the open kitchen, is covered in glossy white to complement the metal-framed seating and wood plank floor. The smell of the kitchen's wood-burning fire perfumes everything here, acting as a savory prelude to the cuisine and reminding guests of their motto: "Earth, Wheat, Fire.”

Great vibe, and always on point with their music. Extremely unique crowd. If you're up for an adventure, would suggesting spending one night at HOY.

Brooklyn has long been the home of immigrants, movers, artists, creative geniuses and small business idols. Plenty of trades and traditions have come and gone, but one has been constant: beer. In 1984, Steve Hindy ended a five and a half-year tour as the Middle East Correspondent for the Associated Press. Steve befriended diplomats based in Saudi Arabia, where Islamic law prohibits alcoholic beverages. The envoys were avid home brewers and happily plied Steve with their flavorful beers. Returning to live in Brooklyn Steve started brewing at home. Eventually, he enlisted his downstairs neighbor, banker Tom Potter, and they set out to establish the Brooklyn Brewery.

Dirty Precious sits inconspicuously, like a diamond in the rough. The bar’s base has a familiar industrial-modern finish, ornate knickknacks from around the world are added throughout to create something more interesting and complex. The most-fitting embodiment of the concept “Dirty Precious” is the creation story behind its cocktail menu. Favorite Cocktails: 1. Bette Davis Eyes: Made of pisco, mandarine napoleon, lemon, egg white, and finished with dried blue flower petals. 2. Ti For Two: A punch party with aged and dark rum, pineau, rooibos tea, hibiscus, and lemon.

#1 TOP COCKTAIL BAR OF CHOICE: Featherweight is located behind two black doors under the neighborhood's premier piece of street art depicting an exhausted boxer hugging a heavy bag. There are no signs and nothing to tell you that you've arrived at the correct location, and that's what makes it wonderful. The cocktail menu is the star of the show and you're going to want to taste it all. One key feature of Featherwieght is that it is small, awesomely small. Hanging out here is like hanging out in the swankiest apartment in town, which also happens to have a wet bar and extremely capable bartenders mixing up top-notch drinks. The decor could be described as 1920s tiki.

Sightseeing

Not many people will suggest this, and I'm surprised. Probably one of the most amazing and scenic views come from the walk across the Williamsburg Bridge. It's incredible, and you will understand if you see pleasure in this type of activity. Also, not touristy at all.

The quiet block has all the best of this town: 19th-century architecture, trees, peace & quiet, solitude. A rich history you can't help but encounter as you walk the street's near-empty sidewalks. In the 17th century, the area was occupied by partially freed slaves who farmed and made their homes along a brook called "Mannette" that flowed into the then-pristine Hudson River. Minetta has survived many incarnations: shocking New Yorkers in the late 1800s with mixed-race saloons, brothels, openly gay bars, murders, and rampant crime; And because all Greenwich Village locations partake in music history, Bob Dylan famously wrote "Blowin' In The Wind" in 1962 inside the old Fat Black Pussyca

Even locals can agree that there's just no better "gotcha" perspective shot in all of New York than witnessing these two architectural titans in the same frame, and no better place to appreciate both of them than Washington Street. Best Time To Visit: Sunset / What To Expect From The View: The Manhattan Bridge at sunset from Washington Street, with the Empire State Building jutting up beneath it, wedged snugly between the former's blue-gray iron legs.

The street and its surrounding neighborhood are featured in the greatest New York movie of all time, You've Got Mail. The residential buildings and townhouses that line these cul-de-sac-like blocks are pre-war beauties with limestone, granite, and wrought-iron adornments, and though many are similar to what you'd find on the upper stretches of Park Avenue The most beautiful section is close to the middle [90th Street].

Personally, this is my favorite neighborhood in Brooklyn. Just a few blocks from McCarren Park, Guernsey Street stands out as one of the most memorable blocks in Brooklyn, largely because of its very literal shade. Flanked with colorful row houses covered by a natural tunnel-like canopy of locust trees, Guernsey offers a much-needed escape from the gray urban landscape of Manhattan and the crowded brunch spots surrounding the park. Wander down the street while you wait for your table at said brunch spot, and then explore the rest of the quaint area.

Magical! The way the light hits the top of the trees and stretches out to the river at sunset. The cozy feeling you get walking around a small town when in fact you’re in the middle of Brooklyn. The uninterrupted views of the Midtown Manhattan skyline from nearby Transmitter Park. Walking down this serene enclave off of Greenpoint Avenue makes you feel simultaneously at peace and envious of the block’s brownstone dwellers. In addition to being home to a smattering of different-colored townhouses you’ll fantasize about living in one day, Kent is also a stone’s throw from some of the best bars, restaurants, and shops in North Brooklyn.

Parks & Nature

If you like parks, this is an alternative to Central Park in Manhattan. Great restaurants and neighborhoods to walk through. Honestly, NYC is made for walks, so if you can try to walk everywhere.

NYC's only elevated park is one of Manhattan’s most popular New York attractions. The High Line was formally a rail track, which went out of use in 1980. The 1.45-mile-long strip was resurrected in 2009 and turned into one of the best NYC Parks, which runs from Hudson Yards to the northern edge of Chelsea. Today it’s an urbanite’s playground featuring lovely wildflowers, greenery and outdoor art, while offering walkers some of the best views in NYC.

The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir is a highly unlikely group of people, a mixture of ethnic and economic backgrounds, in the heart of a city synonymous with coldness and decay. Made up of doctors, attorneys and former street people, nurses and ex-crack addicts, the choir is a unique cross section of humanity. The 270-voice choir, which for the most part is composed of vocally untrained church members, has won five Dove Awards and six Grammy Awards. The choir sang at the 2012 Presidential inauguration in Washington, DC before an estimated viewing audience of 1 billion people.

Getting Around

The East River Ferry service was launched in 2011. In short, you get a view of New York City that you don't get when standing atop a skyscraper, riding the subway, or walking down busy streets, even in brownstone Brooklyn. Gorgeous views of Manhattan, NY Harbor and Lady Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Manhattan and Williamsburg Bridges, the Empire State Building and Chrysler Building, and more. If you go down to DUMBO you can see the waterfront, glass-enclosed Jane's Carousel (it's spectacular), cool old warehouses, and Brooklyn Bridge Park.
