Only 45 min drive to a beautiful, family beach! Part of the beach is drive-on - if softer sand, you must have 4-wheel drive vehicle or you will get stuck! Off beach parking available. Further north on A1A is St Augustine Beach.
Historic St Augustine is only 45 min away.
PARKING: Unless you know the area, it is easiest to just pay the $15 to park in the "Historic Downtown Parking Facility" at 1 Cordova St, St. Augustine, FL 32084. It's just a few blocks walk to the St. George Street (the heart of the downtown district)
There is limited metered parking at the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument (the "old fort" tourist attraction) at 1 S Castillo Dr, St. Augustine, FL 32084.
Downtown St Augustine has several smaller daily lots, which run about $5 to $10.
There is also metered parking in the heart of downtown (near St George St and Lions Bridge to the beaches), but you'll need some luck!
Insiders tip: If you cross-over the Lyons bridge from downtown St Augustine to go to the beach, do NOT cross back over Lyons bridge to get to Palatka - it is a bottleneck! Instead, head SOUTH on A1A and take 206 WEST when you hit Crescent Beach.
