Sightseeing
Elvaston castle is a beautifuly unique local Beauty spot with a cafe and splendid grounds, mostly planted many years ago by the famous Capability Brown. It’s home to the Sequoia tree usually only found in America and is an ideal picnic spot. It’s a 15 min drive or bus ride away, almost door to door (the air port bus picks you up two mins from my place and drops you at Elvaston Castle.

The round house is an historical repurpose and event spot, well worth a vist, also a 10 min drive and backs on to Derby’s train station.

Derby arena is a purpose built Velodrome and gym, housing a cafe and events including car boots and pantomimes.

Intu Derby is a relatively new and modest shopping centre housing most expected stores and eateries, it’s a 5 min drive and or on a local bus route which you can access just around the corner from my place.

Neighbourhoods
Wilmorton is a small quiet neighbourhood as it is corralled by two mains roads and the railway works. I’m lucky enough to be the third last of a closed street which faces wooded common land and is well lit, there are local shops and eateries within fives minutes of the guest room, also some bigger shops including Wickes, Dunelm, Go Outdoors and B & M. It’s a friendly street, clean and calm.
