This is our local village. It is a lovely Gaeltic (Irish Speaking) Community. tHi Brenda, hope you had a relaxing night and the area is amazingly beautiful. there are plaques around the village you can read telling you about historic sights. there are numerous self guided walking tours that can be done.there is a QR code that you can scan for the routes and they are clearly signposted. 2 pubs (1 with food) , a centra shop owned by a lovely local family which has anything you could need & post office within. a church and bus service to Macroom & back Tues, to Bsntry & back Thurs, to cork & back on Fridays.

It is a place of astounding beauty, peaceful, relaxing, seeped in history and wonderful walking tracks. Wonderful cafe with home cooked/baked produce. First class restaurant with beautiful food and amazing ambience.

The river Lee starts in Gouganne Barra and runs through Ballingeary (8 min drive from hut) heading to Cork. there is great pike fishing there and during the spring and summer months Kayaking and water sports available for hire.
