CÉRET is the capital of Vallespir, this Catalonian town brings together tradition with modernity with its shady avenues and tall plane trees. This town is filled with lots of history, festivals and local markets. It is also famous for the Museum of Modern Art, with a wide range from the 20th century Inspired by the great artists who passed through or stayed in the town and local area, such as Picasso, Matisse, Chagall, Dufy and Masson. In July, the Sardane Festival takes place, celebrating the sardane, a renowned Catalonian dance.
