Reid State Park is one of Maine’s great state park beaches. With Mile Beach, Half Mile Beach, a rocky ledge, a warm lagoon, and plenty of shady picnic tables, there’s something for everyone. Free parking, free bathrooms and changing rooms, showers, sometimes food or food trucks available. Lighthouses and short hikes… One of three lighthouse on the Kennebec, an easy 30 minute walk to the light on a single wide trail. You’ll pass over a salt marsh on a foot bridge where you may see blue heron or an eagle.
To get there take Bald Head Rd in Arrowsic to the end.

General
The General Store is a family-run spot to grab snacks and essentials. Pizza is tasty (sometimes slices are available), and there are often sandwiches or baked goods. Provisions are spotty but you can get beer, soda, ice, and coffee. Ice cream is available in the summer.

Five Islands Lobster Co is an absolutely must for any visitor to the area. Fresh lobster, fried seafood, and burgers (limited vegetarian entrees, FYI), all right on the wharf where the fishing boats come in. BYOB and table cloth if you are feeling VERY fancy.

Swimming
It’s where the locals go to cool off in a fresh water pond with rope swing.
This is where the locals go to cool off. There are two ways to enjoy this fresh water swimming: Off Rt 127 on the way to the cabin in Arrowsic you’ll pass Sewell pond with parking at the road. On a hot day you’ll see lots of cars here. For the more adventurous, take The Old Stage Rd to the backside of the pond where you’ll see a gate and lots of parking on the side of the road. Pass through the gate on foot and it’s a short walk, less than five minutes through the forest to the pond. At the end of the trial is a rope swing. Getting in and out of the water here is a bit challenging, need to be a bit nimble.

Welcome to peninsula life!
Georgetown is beautiful, but it is about 20 minutes to services. You should plan to arrive with most of your basic needs already in hand, especially if you are coming late – the general store closes by 6 PM, and there are no restaurants at all open outside of the summer.
