Mudeford Spit Beach/Quay with a little foot ferry. Sandy and quiet beaches which are good for bathing. The area is popular amongst dog walkers. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on site, but off the beaches, please respect that this is a nature reserve with plenty of rare and easily-frightened wildlife, keeping your four-legged friends under close control (on a lead is just perfect).

It can be blowly so do take an extra layer. Hengistbury Head is a relatively unspoilt beach, consistently featuring in the annual TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice® awards for Beaches. It has a south-facing pebble beach, with imposing clay and ironstone cliffs, and soft, sandy beaches at Mudeford spit, which is lined with the famous colourful Mudeford beach huts. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on site, but off the beaches, please respect that this is a nature reserve with plenty of rare and easily-frightened wildlife, keeping your four-legged friends under close control (on a lead is just perfect). A nice idea might be to spend the day at Hengistbury Head – ride the land train from the Hiker Café down to Mudeford and enjoy the beaches, take a pleasant stroll back (if you wish), stopping in at the Visitor Centre to pick up a few local, coastal or environmentally-friendly souvenirs (the money spent in the shop helps support the conservation work on site). There is plenty of parking, with toilets and cafés at both ends of the site.

[🚂] The Georgian market town of Lymington is set on the coast in the beautiful New Forest National Park, between Southampton and Bournemouth. Famous for its sailing history, there are two large marinas filled with fishing boats and yachts, as well as two sailing clubs. The town’s narrow streets are lined with pretty period cottages and houses, as well as plenty of local pubs and restaurants. Lymington High Street has several independent shops and designer boutiques, as well as a local market held each Saturday which dates back to the 13th century. At the bottom of the High Street, a cobbled road leads down to the Old Town Quay, which is still used by a number of commercial fishing boats. There is often a chance to buy fresh fish on the waterfront. From here you can take a stroll along the waters edge and soak up the atmosphere of this renowned sailing resort. Whether you are visiting Lymington by boat or by land, there are many great things to do, places to visit and excellent hotels, pubs and restaurants. One of the smaller American Pool venues but nice with a good atmosphere. The food ordering is not the quickest as it comes up from the Walkabout pub below and the food (chips in particular) can arrive a bit cold (Review April 2022 so it might have improved!) . In the evening they crank up the music and it turns into a party bar/pool hall. https://www.felsons.co.uk/felsons-bournemouth As an alternative https://sharkeyssportsbar.co.uk/home

😀😀😀😀 THIS IS OUR TOP TIP for a rainy day... or in fact anyday. [🐶💜] All Fired Up is an independent Paint-Your-Own pottery studio in the centre of Bournemouth, offering a fun and relaxing environment to relax and express their creativity. There is a cafe with decent light bite options. They can post your creations (for a charge) as they run the kiln once a week or you will just have to visit Bournemouth again to pick them up (in the meantime we can pick them up for you and store them safely). We would suggest planning in 3 hours or more! Honestly until you experience it you would not believe it. Everyone loves it, I mean everyone... ok you think that's not you... it is you and you will wonder why you did not do it before. We took my Brother in Law there (a high level Executive in a multi billion pound company) and he seriously considered jacking in his job and opening a similar offering in his hometown. https://potterycafebournemouth.co.uk/#

[ 🐶💜] Although restrictions can apply at different times of year https://www.bournemouth.co.uk/things-to-do/dog-friendly-zones-p1565213 ] Ok we thought we would mention the beach in case you did not realise you were at the seaside! Scroll down for top tips... Without a doubt, Bournemouth’s biggest draw has to be that long, beautiful, sandy beach. In fact, there are around 10 miles of beaches skirting the wide bay between Hengistbury Head and the mouth of Poole Harbour. Nearest to the town centre, the iconic pier stretches out into the sea with wide swathes of sand on either side, as well as amusement arcades, chip shops, and ice cream stalls, so this section is particularly popular. But you can walk along the promenade as far as Sandbanks to the west or Southbourne in the east, with amenities to be found most of the way. Nothing says “British Seaside” more clearly than a retro pier lined with arcades and attractions. So the Victorian pier in Bournemouth is definitely one of the must-see attractions in town! There is a small charge in the summer but the ticket does allow repeated entry. Four fixed electric beach BBQs are available from Easter until 31 October, between 10am to 10pm, on a first come, first serve basis. https://www.bournemouth.co.uk/things-to-do/beaches/beach-check Our top tips.... * In high season it can be busy by the pier... 10 minutes walk either way is a lot more peaceful! * If there is a strong (over 15 mph) Westerly or Easterly (in particular) wind and you only are going for a walk then walk along the beach with the wind to your back and then take one of the walk throughs/zig zags to top of cliff and walk back that way (it also gives a great view of the Bay so worth it anyway) *A land train runs between Bournemouth and Boscombe piers between April and Oct. * You can park for about £10 all day right next to the beach but spots fill up quickly in the summer (via Boscombe Beach end) https://www.bournemouth.co.uk/things-to-do/land-train-p1242543

[😁] It is the real stand out restaurant in the BH2 complex so we gave it a seperate listing. It's in the town centre so convenient for what ever you are planning to do. https://www.therealgreek.com/
[😎] A real meat feast. Simple but tasty rack grilled food. Service normally quick. Town centre/close to the beach (2 minutes). https://www.funkigriller.co.uk/

[🕰] It's only 10 minutes walk and on the way to the beach/town centre. So can be a good choice if you have just arrived and are hungry as you can then continue into town/beach afterwards. It is on a junction but once inside you do not really notice. Or Turtle Bay (Caribbean) is across the road if you fancy a more lively venue https://www.kala-thai.com/

You sit on long shared tables and they bring out the food when its ready (ie not starters and then mains). So if it's not busy it can mean quick service. Central and a few minutes from the beach. https://www.wagamama.com/restaurants/bournemouth/bournemouth

[😎] [🤑🤑🤑] Very posh and hence pricey. You could spend £150 for 2. Somewhere to consider if you want to dress up. The best way I could describe is a London posh restaurant vibe. Great cocktails.. Go before it gets dark to get the view otherwise the beach/sea is black after dark! It's 2 minutes from the beach. Central and close to BIC https://www.neorestaurant.co.uk/

[🤑] Chinese but fancy and hence relatively expensive especially for a Chinese. That said they do some really unusual dishes. It maybe lacks a bit of atmosphere but the last time we went was when seating was very socially distanced. Central and close to BIC http://www.1805.co.uk/home/

It's in the Triangle which is the far end of town from here. However The Triangle does have a lot of good restaurants, pubs and Bars in a compact area.
