In WW2, Nazi Germany occupied the country and tore it down. Lost for decades, the sculpture was found in 1981 under the main stand of the national football stadium and put back in its original place. Vast underground system of passages and galleries (known as the casemates) under the ruins of the old castle. Even if you do not enter you have a nice view over the old town from there.
