This "micro brewery" is actually owned by Anheuser Bush but is still on our list for comfort food, fast service with large portions and cold beer for every palate. The merchandising is for sale and kind of cool. Growlers (beer in your own jar) are available for take away so it's a good place to stop before a BBQ.

Parks & Nature
The ocean is one street down from our street - with Magic Sands Beach about a 4-5 minute walk.
Best for boogie boarding as waves are almost a given.

Next to Magic Sands - about 3 minutes from our place is "Mile Marker 4", a popular shore diving spot for spearfishing and scuba diving.

This popular snorkeling and surfing spot is perfect for getting your feet wet into Hawaiian waters. The bay is within a naturally protected inlet so there are not strong waves within the snorkeling area. Just outside that spot is a popular surf area with access to surfing schools teaching how to 'hang ten'.
Lifeguards patrol both areas of the bay.

This is a new micro-brewery - not much to look at from the outside but there is a nice, young (30s-60s :) vibe inside and good beers. They have special ciders too using local fruit like liliokoi (passion fruit), etc... Food can be carried in from the food truck outside.

This Costco is the only one on the Big Island - stop here from the airport to stock up on food, drinks, etc... By far Costco has the cheapest gas too, so be sure to fill up here when returning your rental car!
