You can walk to the north end of Zilker from our house on the Johnson Hike and Bike Trail -- you pick up the trail near our house, 15-20 beautiful walk to lake and top of Zilker. Barton Springs road is really fun and eclectic and COMPLETELY JAMMED with traffic -- if you can get there on foot, do it! If nothing else, drive to the lake by Austin High, where there is always parking, cross the bridge, and go from there!

Read about it online, that's the best description. https://thinkeryaustin.org From our house, it's a 20 minute drive IN TRAFFIC, but not much shorter without. There are so many great parks and lakes near us, that only go to the Thinkery if you really want this as an option -- because otherwise there's just way too much great stuff within walking distance of our house for your kids! Including playing with our really awesome & well behaved 8 & 10 year old daughters (see reviews!) who are super athletic and the youngest is pure tomboy, so lots of potential for play, in our giant back yard, BB hoop around, or parks!
