Food Scene

Local, great coffee (but not sit-down) Call in advance or check their website to order pastries and Tinderhearth bread. Also a Stonington location that seems to attract what passes for hipsters on Deer Isle.

There are two small farmers markets in Deer Isle: a Night Market on Main Street Tuesdays 4-6 (library is also open during this time) and Wednesdays 9:30-11:30 (up the hill across from the bank.) The largest is in Stonington on Friday morning, 10-12; it has a big selection of food, flowers and crafts. Some specialty items like Tinderhearth and I think some of the organic meats and cheeses sell out early and people line up before the market opens.
