Kai Joo Lane 2: shophouse loft for four, old town

Kai Joo Lane has been part of old Kuching since 1923. Coffin makers and opium dens once, kopitiams and biscuit shops now. This is the split-level flat above it, up a spiral staircase. King bed on the lower level, two singles up top, so four people get real beds rather than a sofa arrangement. India Street, Carpenter Street, the museums and the waterfront are all a short walk. Two floors up and no lift. Worth knowing before you book, not after.
