Wimbledon Village is 15 mins away by car. There are lots of bars and restaurants to try out. Wimbledon village Sunday market is open from 9am and offers a variety of different market foods to try.
Wimbledon village is a lovely place to hang out, lot of very nice restaurant, pub and coffee shop. there is a stable if riding is your thing. if you like running Wimbledon common is the place to go, the forest is beautiful, and we have a lovely wild life if bird watching is your thing.
South Wimbledon and Wimbledon Town are set below the hill that has Wimbledon Village and Wimbledon Common on its top. You can walk through Cannizaro House Hotel to a fine spacious garden that is ideal for a 15-20 minute walk.
The Championships, Wimbledon, commonly known simply as Wimbledon or The Championships, is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and is widely regarded as the most prestigious.
Wimbledon Village is a 15 minute walk from the flat. The blend of chic shops, cafes and bars, set amongst handsome period buildings and open spaces makes Wimbledon Village unique in London The nearest tube station is Southfields and the nearest mainline train stations are either Wimbledon or Putney. No. 93 bus will bring you to Selhurst Close (stop - Albemarle) from either station. This is a popular development very close to the amenities of both Wimbledon Village and Southfields. Wimbledon Common is just across the road and offers lovely walks, a lake and the windmill and café. The Co-op grocery store is very close to here. Follow the pathway, and walk on past a row of terraced houses to Inner Park Road. Turn right and the shop is a few metres to your right. It is very convenient and open from 07.00 until 10pm daily. The short cut to Southfields is along the pathway visible from the sitting room, turn left through the next estate and as you exit opposite the church, take Augustus Road down the hill to Southfields. Southfields is a lovely area for practical shopping with a food Marks and Spencers, Gails Bakery and a deli selling home-made delicacies. There is a great selection of restaurants including a Franco Manca for pizza fans and an excellent Thai restaurant called the Thai Girder. Southfields tube station is in Travelcard Zone 3 and the district line runs into central London in less than half an hour. The best route to the All England Lawn Tennis club (AELTC) museum (open daily 10-5pm) is to follow the pathway through the estate next door as if walking to Southfields, take August Road and the first right down Victoria Drive . First right at the bottom into Church Road and the LTC is on your right. Just a short walk from here of 15 minutes. Wimbledon Village is easily reached either on foot via the Common or by the Bus 93. My favourite delicatessen there is Bayley and Sage which offers the best foods from all over the world. There are plenty of restaurants from the well-known Ivy Café to Chango Empanadas, which is my favourite place to try Argentinian empanadas. Hemingways is an independent cocktail bar on the High Street which hosts regular live music events. There are many pubs in the area but my favourite is just across the large roundabout called Tibbets Corner on Putney Heath named ‘The Telegraph’. It is surrounded by Common land and you would be forgiven for thinking you are sitting in a beautiful old house in the country. The culinary fayre is also impressive.
