One of the oldest libraries in the country, the Athenaeum is legitimately awe-inspiring. There are a lot of things in providence that will take you back in time, but this is one of the best to me, even if you're not into books. :)

It's on Benefit Street, one of the most beautiful streets in Providence. If you love libraries like our forebears in Rhode Island obviously did, then this is a must see. It acts like a public library even though not one and welcomes visitors. If you are a library lover, Rhode Island is a gem. Must see The Sayles Public Library at 13 Summer Street in Pawtucket.

A really great historical library, also was the meeting place of a love affair between Edgar Allen Poe and his sweetheart.
