Artsy and bohemian, Barranco is filled with charm, colonial buildings and colorful grafitti. Plenty of great options of cafes and restaurants and the best views of the bay of Lima and the Pacific Ocean!
From its beginnings, Barranco was an extremely attractive resort for upper-middle-class vacationers from Lima and foreigners in general, who, for the most part, settled down building large ranches and mansions, emulating European styles. Its remoteness from the city made trains, and later streetcars, a necessity for transportation. Over the years, and the growing expansion and creation of other districts, Barranco joins the Metropolis.

The district is considered to be the city's most romantic and bohemian, being the home and working place of many of Peru's leading artists, musicians, designers and photographers.
Bohemian hip neighborhood by the coast. This used to be summer resort for families from old Lima. The beautiful architecture reflects its use. High ceilings and open spaces with cross ventilation reflect its seasonal purpose. Today, the restored mansions house museums, restaurants, hotels and stores of unique characters. There is a vibrant nightlife. The main plaza is full of life on weekends with fairs attended by locals and visitors. I highly recommend Hotel B! Superb food, hip hotel. Another wonderful restaurant is called “7”. Shopping, Cuatro en un Baúl in Cajamarca Street and El Closet de mi Hermana. Modern, hip, bohemian vibes, cool things! Dédalo es another gallery with lots a original/high quality pieces and tea shop in back. Located in Saenz Pena. Other unique and great stores are: Cuatro en un Baul en Calle Cajamarca Puna en Calle Colina 128 Gambino, freshly made pastas, coffees, wines, Jiron Colina 105
