The Royal Danish Opera House - It totals 41,000 square metres. Five of the fourteen storeys are subterranean. The main stage of the opera seats an audience of 1400. The Opera House is clad with southern German Jura Gelb limestone, and the foyer features Sicilian Perlatino marble. The wall of the auditorium facing the foyer is clad with maple wood, and the ceiling in the main auditorium is adorned with 105,000 sheets of 24 carat gold leaf, equivalent to 1.5 kilos of gold.

The newest addition to the cultural scene is the new Operahouse. You can cross the water by using the new bridge from Skuespillerhuset close to Nyhavn - note: you can only walk or bike. The chandeliers inside are really pretty and the theater breathtaking.

Next to the opera you can take the habour boat. For around 3€/person it will sail you up the main habour.

Just as pretty on the inside as it is not so pretty on the outside. Take the harbour bus over there and enjoy the magnificent building and the wonderful operas.

Just across the water from Amalienborg. You can take the boat from Nyhavn.
