For Cretan traditional cuisine in an idyllic scenery amongst streams and plane trees merged with traditional architecture, the village of Stilo-Apokoronou hosts the tavern “Pissas”. And of course Crete is the absolute vegan/vegetarian paradise. In all aforementioned taverns you can find unique varieties of leaf salads seasoned with olive oil and lemon, baked beans cooked in the oven (gigantes), stuffed tomatoes with rice (gemista), mature goat and sheep cheese, different types of pies with rustic pastry, baked oven bread and rusks.
