So worth a visit like going back in time or to an old movie; old style traditional pub sweet shop to front and friendly pub to back ( famous for corn beef sandwich )

A shop front that has not changed in one hundred and thirty four years. Where if you look closely you can still see the tie-up loops that the men would tie the reins to park the horse– donkey– and cart, so they could fill up on coal or turf while the wives did their groceries, and later of course, reward themselves with a pint of plain. Its many accolades include oldest pub in Athy, one of best family pubs in Ireland, and one of the Sunday Tribune's top one hundred pubs in Ireland. Most recently, Frank himself was vividly portrayed in Bill Barich's well-received " A Pint of Plain", which has been reviewed in most of the major international newspapers. But beyond all of this notoriety, "Frank's", as it most commonly known, has been a centre of Kildare history and sports through the four continuous generations of the O’Brien family that have occupied the premises.
