The church was built in the years 1896–1900 in the neo-Gothic style. The project was made by Prof. Heer. It was made by craftsmen from Gliwice, expressing their professionalism and craftsmanship. The beautiful furnishings were made by the Buhla Church Art Institute from Wrocław. The temple is equipped with an organ of the highest class. Church of Saint Apostles Peter and Paul was elevated to the dignity of a cathedral in 1992, when Pope John Paul II erected the diocese of Gliwice. The temple houses the best organs of the Rieger-Mocker company in Upper Silesia, which is why numerous organ recitals and concerts take place there. The city of Gliwice co-finances conservation works in a historic church.
