Located at 215 Harbour Drive in the original Courthouse and Police Station. Discover a world of stories, to spark memories and the imagination. Hear stories of spiritual connection to the land from Gumbaynggirr Elder and artist Uncle Tony Hart. Get to know the Sea Captain who Coffs Harbour is named after – hear about the spelling mistake! Find out about pioneering men and women – lighthouse keepers, gold miners, farmers, timber workers and fishers. And the romance kindled via morse code. See our locally invented flying machine and meet the brave hero who was awarded multiple medals in World Wars I and II.

learn all about the history of Coffs Harbour and European settlement in the area. Toward town, pass the Cavenbah Hall with some local art works at the front before reaching Pioneer Park where you can see the creative work of graphity artist Ash Johnston on the walls lining the park. Walk along Duke St and past some mud brick huts on your right. At the end of the street, Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery is on your left. The gallery presents a diverse range of historical and contemporary exhibitions.

This regional museum is only two years old. Where it was located flooded over the years so council bought and refurbished the original courthouse and police station. It was $5 to have a look but for only having 5 rooms we were there quite a while. The volunteers were passionate about their museum and one gentleman told us a great deal about the early history and characters of Coffs Harbour. There was a very interesting book on the building and rebuilding of the break walls at the Jetty. There were also some great shot videos on local history. This museum is still developing and is well worth the visit.
