Enjoy a truly unique cinema experience in the beautifully restored Stella Cinema, an iconic cinematic landmark which sits confidently in heart of Dublin 6. The cinema itself has been sympathetically restored to reflect the glamour and glitz of the 1920’s for an entire new generation of movie-goers. Originally opening its doors in 1923, the theatre was affectionately named The Stella, designed by architectural firm Higginbotham & Stafford it held 1,283 patrons, making it Ireland’s largest cinema at the time. In true art-deco style it featured a ballroom on the first floor and an incredible fountain in the foyer. During the current restoration, some beautiful original 1920s features such as the original façade with granite pilasters were uncovered, along with a typical art deco handrail which guides you up to the first-floor balcony, detailed mosaic tiling of the original Stella logo and original decorative ceiling mouldings which have been kindly restored and dotted throughout the theatre. The original suspended projection booth is also still in place. We welcome you to enjoy all that The Stella Cinema has to offer. Choose from the latest blockbuster releases or classic favourites and book your ticket online or at the box office, all our films are listed here, take your pick! Choose your seat, from our not so standard luxurious red armchairs, to the comfy sofas made for two or our big double beds that engulf the front row. Sit back, get comfy and enjoy! What’s a trip to the cinema without a bit of indulgence? Well we’ve got you sorted with a menu full of mouth-watering food, which we’ll deliver right to your seat at the beginning of each film. A selection of fine delicious cocktails and your staple cinema favourites; popcorn, confectionery, soft drinks and nachos, all of which you can pick up at the refreshments bar in the lobby. A trip to Stella Cinema is not complete until you’ve discovered The Stella Cocktail Club upstairs. The original ballroom has been transformed into a luxurious cocktail bar, with a glass atrium and a large front facing window overlooking the bustling Rathmines main street, as well as a quaint outdoor terrace decked out in comfortable seats, perfect for sipping on movie inspired cocktails under the stars. It has the décor, vibe and luxurious comfort of its sister The Vintage Cocktail Club, and a bespoke cocktail and food menu to impress. The Stella Cinema and Stella Cocktail Club are open for business seven days. Every Friday and Saturday we’ll play host to the night owls of Dublin with a special midnight screening and ensure young families are well entertained with a weekly family movie. The Stella Cocktail Club is open from 5pm every day, and tables can be booked here.

This is a movie theatre like no other. It is decorated as a 1950 movie house, with individual arm chairs and sofas. The selection of movies is small, alternative and never boring.
