Visit the First National River. Be sure to stop in Ponca at the Buffalo Outdoor Center for recommendations and water levels. The Buffalo River is our favorite place for kayaking, canoeing and exploring.

Great bluffs & a great river to float when the river is up. Please contact the Buffalo River Outfitters for river levels and to rent canoes/kayaks.

America's First National River Established in 1972, Buffalo National River flows freely for 135 miles and is one of the few remaining undammed rivers in the lower 48 states. Once you arrive, prepare to journey from running rapids to quiet pools while surrounded by massive bluffs as you cruise through the Ozark Mountains down to the White River. Spectacular hiking trails along high bluffs overlooking the Buffalo River. Canoeing and kayaking also. Whitaker Point within the park is an easy hike to a most amazing point and view. This is a rather long drive of 90 minutes to the park.
