Short scenic 25 minute drive up to Beech and then up the mountain. Lots of restaurants, shops, and activities to do. I suggest taking the ski lift to the Skybar. Skiing and tubing

The town of Beech Mountain is only 12 min from the home. Visit Fred's Mercantile - an "old fashioned" type general store - which has everything from groceries to clothing to hardware.
