Walk along the bridge at Deception Pass and take in the breathtaking views to the east and west. Observe the turbulent current passing through the narrow channel during tidal changes where the speed of the water can reach 8 - 10 mph.

The Deception Pass State Park is a Great starting point. Walking across the bridge is always a great experience. A small parking area (Limited parking) is on the south side of the bridge. There’s limited parking on the north side of the bridge as well. Rosario beach is a highlight I take friends when they come in from out of town. About a half mile north west of the bridge. Google will get you there. There is a lovely 30 minute hike with great views of the bridge. You can’t go wrong anywhere in this area.

There is a secret parking area south of the bridge inside of the park. You can park their and take a short hike through the beautiful forest. This is WAY better than walking on the busy road!

Your trip to Whidbey would not complete without a trip to Deception Bridge Pass, it’s an iconic for a reason. It’s breathtaking beautiful, you will automatically become a professional photographer with those views. I’m nobody when it comes to taking pictures but those are my own pics of Deception Pass

Deception Pass State Park is the most visited park in Washington. If you don't have time to go all the way to the San Juan Islands, this is a great day trip (about 1.5 hour drive). You'll see wildlife and beautiful scenery, similar to San Juan Islands.
