 Heligan is one of the most mysterious estates in England. Lost to the brambles of time since the outbreak of WW1, this Sleeping Beauty was re-awakened in 1990 to become Europe's largest garden restoration project. Today Heligan's 200 acres are a paradise for the explorer, wildlife, plant lover and garden romantic. (30 miles)

These fascinating gardens make a great day trip. There's plenty for children to enjoy here too.

We've visited many times. The gardens have a fascinating history and make for an inspiring and restorative day out. Excellent cafe/restaurant too and children's playground. It's worth checking to see if they are staging any outdoor theatre in the summer months.

Historic ‘lost’ gardens, long neglected after WW1, before being rediscovered in 1990 and brought back to life. Good cafe and shop, also plant sales. Dog friendly.
