A safe, sheltered beach on the north shore of Portland Harbour, Castle Cove is a locals' favourite. With white sand and shallow water, this is a great beach for children and one of the warmest places for swimming. Make a day trip by combining with a walk/scoot along the Rodwell Trail and a visit to Sandsfoot Gardens nearby (see separate entry). Access to the beach is via a set of steep steps - for flat access try Sandsfoot Beach further along the same road. Parking nearby is very limited but there is some on street parking along Belle Vue Road, about 5 minutes walk away

Excellent for children, very shallow sandy beach. Much quieter than Weymouth beach. 20 minute walk.
