A 15-minute boat ride from Chaguaramas, Gasparee Caves is a magnificent system of natural limestone caverns, pools, and caves on the island of Gaspar Grande, more popularly known as Gasparee Island (a vernacular modification of the French, Gaspar Ile).

You descend 100 feet down a staircase into a lit cave that features a pool. We recommend the tours are run by the Chaguaramas Development Authority (CDA) – 50 minute (33.3 km) drive from Green Space to the CDA followed by a 15 boat trip to Gasparee Island.

On the island of Gaspar Grande, you will find a cave system. Tours to these caves can be booked through any tour operator or directly through the Chaguaramas Development Agency. All boat tours will start from one of the marinas in the Chaguaramas peninsula.

The boat transportation to Gasparee caves is about a 40 minute drive from the accommodation. When you arrive at the Gasparee cave location you can descend 100 feet underground and walk through magnificent caves to discover extraordinary stalactites and stalagmites and a crystal clear salt water pool at its base that shimmers like glass. You may even be lucky to spot dolphins on your way to the cave.

High up on the list of any visit to Trinidad should be Gasparee caves. Not only on account of the caves themselves but the boat ride opportunity it offers getting there and back. What makes this cave so appealing is its unique translucent blue pond, which has an average depth of 10-20 feet. Through an underground source, seawater emerges into the cave to form a natural pool.
